It also makes a notable contribution to the Dubai economy.
public film screenings to showcase
The Dubai International Film Festival brings together people from all walks of life to appreciate the best of cinema. During the festival, we stage free public film screenings at the Beach JBR to showcase global cinema to UAE fans and to thank the public for their support. Paid screening is available at Madinat Arena, VOX and the Souk . Ticket packages are now on sale here.
During the rest of the year, we support events to bring insightful and thought-provoking cinema experiences to the community.
Dubai Film Market
A unique platform for Arab cinema
Established in 2007, the Dubai Film Market is the festival’s business and trade hub, and the destination for the sales and acquisitions of Arab films and TV content. The Market comprises a range of initiatives, services and partnerships that connect Arab and international film industry professionals, with a view to facilitating business collaborations. It is now considered the world’s leading industry stage for Arab cinema and a unique platform that contributes to shaping and developing the Emirati film industry.
International Film Awards
Muhr and the IWC Filmmaker awards
The Muhr Awards, launched in 2006, are now recognised as the definitive platform for Arab film, as they nurture and reward film-making excellence in the Arab world. The competition has helped raise the profile of winners on the international stage, drawing attention to cinema from the region. These awards are fundamental to ensuring ambitious and talented Gulf film-makers have the opportunity and resources they need to develop high quality, creatively driven projects and ensure the future success of film in the GCC.
